Welcome

At Allegro, we believe every child is capable, curious, and full of potential. Since 1997, we have been dedicated to creating meaningful early learning experiences that nurture children’s growth, emotional well-being, and sense of belonging.

More than a child care centre, Allegro is a learning community. We see children, families, educators, and community members as partners in a shared journey of discovery. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach®, the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum Framework, Circle of Security, and Handle With Care, we create environments where children feel safe, connected, valued, and empowered to explore the world around them.

We believe learning happens through relationships, play, creativity, inquiry, and lived experiences. Rather than focusing on worksheets or predetermined outcomes, we honour children’s natural curiosity and support them in expressing themselves through the many languages of childhood—art, movement, music, storytelling, construction, nature, play, and conversation.

Allegro is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. We acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land. We honour this territory as it is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”. We are all Treaty people. We are committed to walk the path of reconciliation and recognize that every person has a basic right to human dignity, respect and equal access to resources.
